Used as antiseptic on living surfaces and for sterilization of inanimate things such as surgical instruments and equipments, thermometers and all operation inputs. |

Use 25 ml of Maclon LA in 1 Ltr of water for surface disinfection of inanimate objects, washing equipment, trolleys, tables etc. and for storing pre-sterilized instruments, polythene and plastic tubing.
Use 50 ml of Maclon LA in 1 Ltr of water for disinfection of living tissues for treating or cleaning of wounds & burns. For swabbing during and after labour in obstetrics as a precaution against cross infection and for prolonged immersion
of thermometers.
Use 50 ml of Maclon LA in 300 ml of water for cleaning wounds when detergent function is also required and for cleaning catheters, drainage tubing etc. prior to sterilisation.
Use 50 ml of Maclon LA in 65 ml of water made upto 300ml with spirit for pre operative sterilization of operation site and for emergency sterilization of instruments, rubber appliances , plastic tubing, clinical thermometers etc. |

| Precautions |

a) Maclon LA should invariably be diluted before
use.
b) In prolonged immersion of instruments, add
0.4% ( 4 gms in 1 Ltr ) solution of Sodium Nitrite to prevent rusting.
c) Prolonged immersion of rubber appliances
in Maclon LA solution is not recommended.
d) Hypochlorite bleach is not advised on laundering
clothes which are in contact with Maclon LA
(a brown stain may develop).
e) Instruments with mirror or glass components
should not be immersed in Maclon solution.
f) Syringes and needles used in spinal injection
should be rinsed in sterile water or saline
after immersion in Maclon solution.
